Campaigns & Initiatives
Over the years we have done many campaigns to improve our local area in various ways, this in turn helped Inspire other local communities to do better and aim to become a more Age-Friendly neighbourhood:
We Love Our Community: Combating Fly Tipping (Q4 2024 - Q3 2025)
Over the years the area of Levenshulme has become overrun with Fly-tipping, year on year this issue gets worse and current systems in place generally tend to either enable the behaviour or put a plaster over a much more serious issue.
In March of 2024 media outlets across the entire UK reported that Levenshulme has the Filthiest Alleyways in the UK!
The Inspired Taskforce will be running a campaign to bring the whole community of Levenshulme together to combat this problem as a community united!
The Taskforce will be delivering training on correct waste management procedures alongside environmental health workshops to help spread the word of the correct way to refuse waste.
We will also be running open days to collect information from local residents on 26 fly-tipping hotspots where permanent fixtures will be hung up detailing the correct ways to dispose of your waste... and the penalties if you refuse to do so!
This will be taking place during Q4 of 2024 and Q1 of 2025.
This campaign was funded by the ASDA Foundation's Empowering local communities Grant.
Healthy Lifestyles Initiative: Free Fresh Fruit (2024)
The Inspired Taskforce Trustees found that older people were often unwell due to malnutrition which caused further problems with their overall health preventing them from living happy/healthy and independent lives.
From forgetting to eat breakfast, having toast instead of a banana, being unable to afford to purchase fruit or unable to attend the shops to collect some - the Inspired Taskforce stepped in to provide free fresh fruit at every single one of our sessions, After all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
To date, the Inspired Taskforce have provided 2,116 pieces of fruit to 83 individuals over a 21 week period! (This is equivalent of 2 pieces of fruit per session, per person!)
This campaign was funded by the Our Manchester Food Partnership and support by the Bread & Butter Thing.
Our Past Campaigns
Grey Graffiti Gang
The Grey Graffiti Gang was a group of local older people who set out to Graffiti the streets with spray paints like a bunch of rebels!
They circled every pothole, broken pavement or uneven path and highlighted them to their local council for repairs, all with that hope that it prevents accidents among older residents in the future.

Take a Seat
Working with Age Friendly Manchester and other like minded Organisations the Inspired Taskforce set out to tackle an issue with seating along the main corridor of Levenshulme, Stockport road. Approaching businesses we managed to convince store owners up and down the road to host a "Take a Seat" seat which allowed an older person to sit down and rest for 10 minutes as they make their shopping trips or just wanted a friendly ear to listen!
Businesses accepted the older residents with open arms and hosted seats in their shops, from the local Pound shop to a Tesco and ASDA store! (We even manged to get additional benches installed outside at points where they were needed most!)

Caught Short
In response to an older individual who visited Levenshulme and was turned away from using accessible toilets, the Inspired Taskforce set out to ensure that this never happened again!
Approaching local businesses the Inspired Taskforce agreed with businesses owners the use of their toilets, created stickers that notified that the building had this facility and promoted its awareness!

Cab Driver Training
A trial scheme to help Taxi Drivers understand the needs of older people when travelling with them. The course took place at our main central hub and educated local taxi drivers on the struggles of an older person who uses taxis as public transport. This project was part of the bigger campaign of making Levenshulme an Age Friendly accredited area! A story was covered by the MEN at the link below
